Tree of Heaven (2006) ♥

Just this early morning, I finished watching Tree of Heaven which is a love story movie from Korea. Needless to say, this is the most heartbreaking story I've ever watched. I could not fought back my tears from falling. I even have a tissue box beside me. *sniff* *sniff* I so love the character of Hana (Park Shin Hye) and Yoon Suh (Lee Wan) for their dedication and courage to love each other. In case they look familiar, the two lead characters were in Stairway to Heaven as the younger kids. ♥

Tree of Heaven (2006)

Hana (Park Shin Hye) is a bright young girl who lost her father at a young age. When her mother returns to Japan, she comes with her new Korean husband and his son Yoon Suh (Lee Wan). Yoon Suh’s mother died during his 10th birthday and after her death, he becomes autistic. While Hana is fond of her new stepbrother, he wants nothing to do with her. When their parents leave on their honeymoon, Hana’s mother leaves the children with her deceased husband’s sister who will manage their inn during the trip. While they are gone, the aunt and her daughter Maya abuse Hana and make plans to sell the inn in order to pay for gambling debts and college. Despite all of this, Hana finds comfort in her brother who begins to open up to her and eventually speaks after his 20th Birthday and the day his mother passed away. Yoon Suh's mother died on the same day as he was turning 10, 10 years ago. As they start to have feelings for one another, Hana is afraid to love him. She soon leaves with her "senpai", Fujiwara Ryu, who also likes her. Later on, Maya gets jealous, and decides to make Hana's life even more miserable. Yoon Suh who as a child, shows great potential as an artist, but as he grows up he leaves home and joins the "Yakuzas" or becomes one of the 야쿠자 (it was a notorious gang in Japan), but keeps his stepsister deep in his heart. (dramakimi synopsis)

“Oppa, I walk barefoot sometimes too. When my heart is cold… when I don’t feel like going on… when I miss mother… when I miss you. In this way, I really forget how cold my heart is.” ~ Hana

“Now that I’m alone, I can truly understand how you felt when your heart was cold. How lonely you must have been. The heartache you must have felt. Why didn’t I embrace you with more warmth then?” ~ Hana
